Set in the beautiful South China Sea, this story draws inspiration from the Yongle Blue Hole of Sansha, known as the “Eye of the South China Sea.” Built upon the mythological foundations of classic works such as Journey to the West and Classic of Mountains and Seas, the film blends ancient legends with regional folklore to create a mythic world that remains rooted in traditional Chinese mythology while introducing its own unique vision.
The narrative centers on the mysterious and fantastical setting of the fictional Changle Dragon Cave, unfolding the legendary tale of the South Sea Dragon King and his clan. Continuing the narrative spirit of classical Chinese literature, the story also reflects the distinctive cultural heritage of Hainan and the South China Sea.
