Nanyang Bridge Media

China–Indonesia people-to-people and cultural exchange is entering a new stage of development. From traditional culture and youth exchange to film, media, digital technology, and the creative industries, new forms of collaboration are creating deeper connections between China, Indonesia, and Southeast Asia.

On August 6, 2026, the China–Indonesia Youth Cultural Exchange event, themed “Boundless Creativity · Connecting Youth,” was held in Jakarta, bringing together more than 800 representatives from government, cultural institutions, media, universities, technology companies, creative industries, and youth communities.

As one of the event’s key partners, Nanyang Bridge Media played an active role in its organization and execution, while connecting Indonesian media outlets, industry partners, cultural institutions, and representatives from various sectors. The event also marked an important milestone for the Nanyang Film Festival (NFF), with Nanyang Bridge Media signing an MoU to strengthen cooperation in film, audiovisual content, and cultural exchange between China and Indonesia.

The event brought together a diverse group of prominent guests and industry representatives from both China and Indonesia, including Dr. Al Busyra Basnur, Chairman of the Indonesia–China Friendship Association (PPIT); internationally acclaimed artist Sidik W. Martowidjojo; Anindita Kusuma Listya, S.Sos., MPP, Special Advisor to the Minister of Culture for Cultural Diplomacy and Cultural Industries, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia; Wang Siping, Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Indonesia; Ariyanto Surojo, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Guangzhou; Mr. Peng Yan, Vice President of Tencent Cloud; Coco Lee, CEO of Coolita and Vice President and General Manager of Overseas Business at Skyworth Group; Li Mian, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC); Ivan Chen, Founder and CEO of Anantarupa Studios; and Hao Jie, Director of Luoyang Radio and Television Station.

Representatives from Indonesia’s film, media, and creative industries also actively participated, including Viga Fakoano, CCO of Dagelan at INFIA; Dhanika Arif, Business Development representative of the Jakarta Film Commission; and Fahmi Anwari, President Director of Garuda TV. Representatives from leading Indonesian media outlets, including JAKTV, Bharata, Metro TV, Garuda TV, Jakarta Globe, Media Indonesia, and Kompas.id, also took part in discussions around the Coolita FAST Alliance, exploring new opportunities for China–Indonesia media cooperation, digital content development, and cross-border collaboration in the film and creative industries.

The event also brought together representatives from leading Indonesian media outlets, including JAKTV, Bharata, Metro TV, Garuda TV, Jakarta Globe, Media Indonesia, and Kompas.id, who participated in discussions related to the Coolita FAST Alliance, exploring new opportunities in China–Indonesia media cooperation and digital content development.

Through this initiative, Nanyang Bridge Media demonstrated its capabilities in media resource integration, industry networking, cross-border communication, and partnership development, connecting institutions, media, platforms, and industry partners to create opportunities for future collaboration in content production, media distribution, and digital content.

The two-day exhibition also showcased Chinese culture through physical displays, photography, contemporary art, and VR experiences. By combining traditional cultural heritage with youthful and digital forms of expression, the exhibition brought history and culture closer to younger audiences through more interactive and immersive experiences. This further demonstrated Nanyang Bridge Media’s capabilities in cultural project development, visual content presentation, and digital cultural communication.

At the event, Wang Siping, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Indonesia, highlighted the growing importance of people-to-people exchange between the two countries, noting:

“The better our young people understand each other, the stronger the foundation of China–Indonesia friendship will become.”

Fahmi Anwari, President Director of Garuda TV, likewise emphasized:

“Culture is the soul of cooperation, youth are the future, and media is the bridge connecting the people of our two countries.”

He highlighted four key directions for future cooperation: deepening media collaboration, promoting joint film and visual content production, strengthening digital innovation, and encouraging greater youth participation in cross-cultural exchange.

These priorities closely align with the vision of Nanyang Bridge Media.

Building a New Bridge for Cross-Border Cooperation

For Nanyang Bridge Media, the event was not only a cultural exchange initiative, but also an opportunity to build deeper and more sustainable connections between Chinese and Indonesian institutions, media, and creative industries.

A key milestone was the signing of MoUs between Nanyang Bridge Media and the China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC), Jakarta Experience Board (JXB), and Indonesia–China Friendship Association (PPIT). These partnerships will support further cooperation in film, audiovisual content, cultural exchange, tourism, and the creative industries.

The Nanyang Film Festival (NFF) forms an important part of this broader cooperation. Through the MoU, Nanyang Bridge Media aims to further develop NFF as a platform for film and audiovisual collaboration, connecting filmmakers, media organizations, cultural institutions, industry partners, and young audiences across China, Indonesia, and Southeast Asia.

The participation of representatives from government, diplomatic institutions, media organizations, technology companies, film commissions, creative studios, and cultural institutions further demonstrated the potential for cross-sector collaboration between China and Indonesia.

The Nanyang Film Festival seeks to go beyond traditional film exhibition, serving as a platform connecting filmmakers, media organizations, industry partners, and young people across China, Indonesia, and Southeast Asia. Through film and audiovisual storytelling, it creates opportunities for audiences to discover new cultures while enabling creators and industry professionals to connect and explore cross-border collaboration.

Media Impact and Reach

The event also generated significant media attention, with coverage and reports from more than 20 media outlets across Indonesia and the wider region. Major Indonesian media including JAKTV, Kompas.id, Jakarta Globe, Media Indonesia, Garuda TV, Metro TV, Bharata Online, and Sin Chew Daily reported on the event and its cultural and industry significance. The event was also covered by regional and international media platforms including Wahana Riau, Arabian Post, Brand Spur, The Manila Times, Business Daily Media, IssueWire, Vietnam News, Newswav, HR Asia, Indozone, Newss.id, Penjuru Pos, and Media Outreach, further extending the reach of the China–Indonesia cultural exchange initiative.

This broad media coverage not only increased public awareness of the event, but also amplified discussions around China–Indonesia cultural exchange, youth engagement, film, digital content, and creative industry collaboration. It further demonstrated Nanyang Bridge Media’s ability to connect cultural initiatives with media networks and broader public audiences.

From cultural exchange to creative collaboration; from building connections to creating opportunities.

Nanyang Bridge Media will continue to connect China, Indonesia, and Southeast Asia through stories, people, and creativity, transforming cross-cultural exchange into meaningful collaborations that can be seen, shared, and brought to life.
