Nanyang Bridge Media

Jakarta, August 2026 — Film, visual arts, technological innovation, and Lingnan culture came together in Jakarta as the “China Film Showcase · Guangdong Image Week” (Indonesia) recently took place in the Indonesian capital. Through film screenings, visual exhibitions, technology showcases, and cultural experiences, the event offered Indonesian audiences a new window into Chinese cinema and the rich cultural landscape of Guangdong.

Held at Plaza Indonesia XXI in Jakarta, the event featured a selection of Chinese films alongside the “Guangdong: Yue Lai Yue Hao” visual exhibition and the “Guangdong Goods Global Tour” themed showcase. Together, these activities invited audiences to look beyond the screen and discover Guangdong’s natural landscapes, everyday life, creative industries, and technological innovation.

As one of the event’s partners, Nanyang Bridge Media supported the local coordination and execution of the event in Indonesia. Through film screenings and cultural experiences, the company helped create a more direct connection between Chinese cultural content and Indonesian audiences.

Chinese Cinema Comes to Jakarta

During the event, Nanyang Bridge Media participated in presenting a diverse selection of Chinese films, including Money Honey Phony, Just Go Naila!, Into the Mortal World, Legend of the White Snake.

Spanning animation and contemporary storytelling, from the emotional experiences of young people to modern interpretations of traditional Chinese culture, the films gave Indonesian audiences an opportunity to discover the diversity of Chinese stories on the big screen while experiencing the creative energy of contemporary Chinese cinema.

As a cultural medium that transcends language and geographical boundaries, film also provides a natural way for audiences in China and Indonesia to connect through stories, characters, and shared emotions.

More Than Film: Experiencing Guangdong from Multiple Perspectives

The cultural experience extended far beyond the cinema.

The “Guangdong: Yue Lai Yue Hao” visual exhibition featured 20 photographs selected from the 2026 Guangdong Album. Covering the landscapes, everyday life, cultural traditions, and local customs of southern Guangdong, the exhibition presented Indonesian audiences with a vivid and multifaceted view of the province.

Also featured were selected works from Shan Shi: Delicious Shantou by Lin Dihuan, better known by his pen name “Xiaolin,” a cartoonist and featured creator for IP Guangdong. Through a light-hearted, humorous, and highly relatable artistic style, the works brought Shantou cuisine, Chaoshan culture, and everyday local life to Jakarta, offering Indonesian audiences another perspective from which to discover the region.

Meanwhile, the “Guangdong Goods Global Tour” showcase highlighted the province’s diverse achievements in technology, creative industries, and distinctive cultural products.

From exoskeleton robots and stringless smart electric guitars to Guangdong’s traditional “Three Teas” and Dongguan’s trendy cultural products, a wide range of innovative and culturally distinctive products were presented, showcasing a Guangdong where tradition and modernity coexist and culture and technology intersect.

The event also featured a selection of Guangdong specialties, allowing visitors to experience the region not only through film, images, and technology, but also through taste.

From “Seeing” to “Experiencing” Cultural Exchange

For Nanyang Bridge Media, cultural exchange should not simply be about introducing one culture to another. More importantly, it is about creating authentic experiences that allow audiences from different countries to see, hear, and experience a culture for themselves—and, through that process, build meaningful connections.

The “Guangdong Film Week Exhibition and Screening” (Indonesia) was precisely such an example of cross-cultural exchange.

Here, Indonesian audiences could not only watch Chinese films, but also explore Guangdong through photography and comics, experience innovative technologies, and taste distinctive Lingnan flavors. Through these different dimensions, audiences were able to discover a more authentic, diverse, and multifaceted China.

This also reflects Nanyang Bridge Media’s long-term vision: to continuously connect China, Indonesia, and the broader Southeast Asian market through film and television, media, creative industries, and cultural exchange.

By working with filmmakers, cultural institutions, media organizations, and creative-industry partners across markets, Nanyang Bridge Media aims to bring more outstanding Chinese cultural content to Southeast Asia, enabling Chinese stories to genuinely reach local audiences while creating more opportunities for cultural exchange and collaboration between China and Southeast Asia.

From a film and a photograph to an authentic cultural experience, every encounter can become the beginning of a deeper understanding.

Next Stop: Nanyang Film Festival

The successful launch of the “Guangdong Film Week Exhibition and Screening” (Indonesia) marks another step in Nanyang Bridge Media’s ongoing efforts to promote film and cultural exchange between China and Southeast Asia. And this journey of connection through film and culture will continue.

From October 9 to 11, 2026, the Nanyang Film Festival (NFF) will take place in Jakarta.

The festival will bring together films, filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences from different regions through screenings, industry exchanges, and diverse cultural activities, exploring new possibilities for collaboration across the film and creative industries of China and Southeast Asia.

Next stop: Nanyang Film Festival.

We look forward to watching more films, hearing more stories, and discovering more of the diverse and fascinating cultures of China together.
