SANYA, August 18, 2025 – The “China Walk: Vibrant Hainan” program officially opened in Sanya, Hainan Province, as part of preparations for the upcoming full operation of the Hainan Free Trade Port on December 18. The event gathered dozens of journalists from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, and other ASEAN countries, marking an important step in deepening economic ties between Hainan and ASEAN nations.

In his remarks, Wang Bin, Standing Committee Member of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of Hainan, stressed that cooperation between Hainan and ASEAN in recent years has produced concrete results, ranging from trade and technological innovation to tourism. With its new status as a free trade port, Hainan is expected to become a new center of economic growth, creating broader investment opportunities for ASEAN partners.

“Hainan will continue to unlock the potential of economic and trade cooperation with ASEAN. The policy dividends of the Free Trade Port will drive the creation of a shared and mutually beneficial economic future,” Wang Bin said.

The program also highlighted how Hainan is building an innovation-driven ecosystem that ASEAN countries can benefit from. This includes advancements in science and technology, modern agricultural practices, cutting-edge medical technologies, and even the development of international medical tourism. These initiatives align with Hainan’s vision of becoming an international hub for trade, research, and tourism.

As the official launch of the Hainan Free Trade Port approaches, ASEAN–Hainan economic cooperation is projected to enter a more strategic phase. Hainan is not only emerging as China’s gateway to Southeast Asia but also as a symbol of regional connectivity and shared prosperity.
