Nanyang Bridge Media, as the facilitator of Nusantara arts and culture in China together with the Indonesian Creative Economy Agency (BEKRAF) again presented five national films to be screened in Nanning, Guangxi Autonomous Region.
“Like 2017 and 2018, this year we also managed to screen five films,” Gandhi Priambodo, the head of Nanyang Bridge Media, told Antara in Beijing, Wednesday.
The five Indonesian film titles that managed to amaze the audience ahead of the routine agenda of the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) were “Galih and Ratna”, “Kartini”, “27 Steps of May”, “Keluarga Cemara”, and “Hit & Run”.
On this occasion, NBM also invited the parties involved in the film “Keluarga Cemara” to Nanning, namely Adhisty Zara (as Euis), Ajeng Prameswari, and Nurita Anandia (co-producer).
“Of course, we are proud to be trusted to present Indonesian films at the ‘China-ASEAN Film Screening 2019’ event, which presents various excellent films from countries in the Southeast Asian region and China as the host,” he said.
Moreover, at this year’s CAEXPO, Indonesia became the country of honor, so according to Gandhi, many arts and cultural activities of the archipelago were presented to visitors to the annual event in the area directly adjacent to Vietnam.
Previously, Nanyang Bridge Media had also succeeded in delivering “Hit & Run” to win the “Jackie Chan International Action Film Week” award in Datong, Shanxi Province, in July 2019.
Socio-Cultural Consul of the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Guangzhou Kurniawan Wibowo assesses that CAEXPO has also become an event to promote Indonesian culture by holding film screenings.
“If you look at the occupancy rate of the audience seats for the screening of the five films, which reached more than 76 percent, this certainly opens the way for Indonesian films in China,” he said.
Of the five films screened in Nanning this year, two of them, namely “Kartini” and “Galih dan Ratna” have also been screened at the same place and on the same occasion last year.
